Distinctions of the French classical style

French classics of the 18th century are “fascinated” by elements of Rococo, Baroque and Empire. It is possible to implement the French style in interiors on a full scale only in large apartments: mansions, country villas. But some details can be easily integrated into a small apartment.

The aristocratic style of French classics is expensive in design, but at the same time, it does not have deliberate pathos, although there is elegance and luxury. French interiors look especially elegant in rooms with large panoramic windows and high ceilings. The classic style in the interior of the house is characterized by the following components.

Warm and neutral range

The color palette of the French style is laconic and without contrasts: milky, gold, ivory, pale blue, gray and their shades. Smooth gradients create a general background, on which a special effect is given to the decor. The walls are mostly painted in pastel shades, the ceiling is whitewashed and decorated with stucco.

Rare furniture

The highlight of French interiors is furniture made of natural materials. Most often – painted, although individual elements can still be left in natural “wood”. The fundamental difference between the “Frenchwoman” and the “British woman” is in the velour upholstery and twisted curved legs. By the way, the final touch was borrowed from the Empire style. The uniqueness of the interior is given by the character – rare furniture with emphasized elegance.
